A chance discovery gave rise to LATISSE®. Bimatoprost, the main chemical, was first used in glaucoma treatments, but soon after, patients began seeing a positive side effect: longer, fuller lashes! It is thought that LATISSE® functions by boosting both the quantity and phase of eyelash hairs in their growth cycle. The substance was developed into the first FDA-approved medication for growing lashes, LATISSE®, as a result of this finding.

Common Questions
LATISSE® should be applied at night after removing makeup and contacts and cleansing your face. (Don’t worry, you can pop contacts back in 15 minutes after you’ve applied the product!) LATISSE® comes with single-use applicators. Here are the four basic steps to apply LATISSE®:
- Remove a sterile applicator from its tray.
- While holding the applicator horizontally, place one drop of LATISSE® on the area of the applicator closest to the tip, but not on the tip itself.
- Immediately brush the applicator carefully along the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes (where the eyelashes meet your skin), going from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part. Do not apply LATISSE® to the lower lid.
- Use a tissue to blot any excess solution that goes beyond the eyelid. Throw away the applicator. Each applicator should be used once. Repeat the steps for the opposite eyelid with a new, sterile applicator.
DO NOT APPLY in your eye or to the lower lid. ONLY use the sterile applicators supplied with LATISSE® to apply the product. If you miss a dose, don’t try to “catch up.” Just apply the LATISSE® solution the next evening. Use of LATISSE® more than once a day will not increase the growth of eyelashes more than use once a day. If any LATISSE® solution gets into the eye proper, it is not expected to cause harm. The eye should not be rinsed.
Don’t allow the tip of the bottle or applicator to contact surrounding structures, fingers, or any other unintended surface in order to avoid contamination by common bacteria known to cause infections.
Contact lenses should be removed prior to application of LATISSE® and may be reinserted 15 minutes following its administration.
Apply LATISSE® once a night, or as instructed by your healthcare provider. To help you make your LATISSE® treatment as effective as possible, it’s important to be consistent and apply it once every day. Here’s a tip: make LATISSE® part of your nighttime routine by leaving it next to your night cream or toothbrush.
You may begin to notice changes in your lash length in just four weeks. Full results—lashes that are noticeably longer, fuller, and darker take 16 weeks. Individual results and experience may vary. If you ask us, good things are worth the wait!
With 16 weeks of daily application LATISSE® can grow lashes longer, fuller, and darker. If you stop applying LATISSE®, your lashes will return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months. How quickly depends on your natural lash-shedding cycle.
LATISSE® is a prescription product, so it can vary in price. Generally, though, a 30-day supply of LATISSE® works out to just a few dollars a day.
